The tagua nut, also known as vegetable ivory, is the seed of the Phytelephas, a genus containing six species of palms that are commonly known as ivory palms or tagua palms. These trees are found in the tropical rainforests in Ecuador, Peru, Panama and Colombia.
Our tagua jewelry is made by local artisans or small factories in Ecuador. We work with an Ecuadorian company that promotes fair trade, pays fair wages, encourages good working conditions and does not accept child labor.
The use of tagua nuts is sustainable: not only do they help preserve rainforests, they also provide an alternative to ivory and can help to protect elephants all around the world.
Choose tagua for organic jewelry that is attractive, durable and eco-friendly.
